Sustainability Unleashed: A Greener Monza for F1 Italy 2025

Renewable Energy at Monza

Following successful trials in 2024, the 2025 Italian Grand Prix will see the paddock, pit lane, and event technical centre powered by a renewable, centralized energy system. This includes hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), solar panels, and battery storage, which will deliver an estimated 90% reduction in carbon emissions during the European Grand Prix season. These measures will showcase Formula 1’s commitment to sustainability.

Sustainable Logistics with Biofuels

At the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, 37 biofuel-powered DHL trucks will transport freight across Europe, including Monza. This move contributes to an 83% reduction in logistics emissions compared to conventional diesel, showcasing F1’s ongoing effort to lower its environmental footprint.

Water Bottle Initiatives and Transportation Alternatives

Monza continues its commitment to reducing plastic waste by installing water bottle filling stations across the venue. This initiative helped avoid the use of approximately 580,000 single-use plastic bottles during the 2024 F1 weekend, and it will be expanded for 2025. Fans are also encouraged to use public transport, bike-share programs, or e-scooters, reducing traffic emissions and congestion.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Future Plans

F1 has significantly reduced aviation emissions by utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), cutting emissions by 80% per flight in 2024. F1 continues to invest in SAF for 2025, further enhancing sustainability. Additionally, F2 and F3 support series will run on 100% sustainable fuels in 2025, with F1 cars transitioning by 2026.
